If you donated Saturday evening, check your email Sunday morning for the link and instructions to join the meditation. Thank you!

I chose this charity because in addition to the No. 1 spot on Charity Navigator’s list, Direct Relief earns a 100% fundraising efficiency rating from Forbes, an “A” rating from CharityWatch, and was named to Fast Company’s list of the “World’s 10 Most Innovative Nonprofits.”I respect their mission to offer relief independent of religion, politics, or ability to pay.

Plant It Forward provides Houston with fresh, local produce by helping refugees grow their own urban farm businesses. Each farmer is trained to farm using organic methods and sell their produce through farmers markets, farm stands, restaurants, and farm shares.

Friends,

As I woke up this morning and poured over the news, I saw so much chaos, destruction, political and social calamity, bullshit, and injustice, that my entire body shook with equal parts rage and fear--the perfect recipe for despair.

I know I'm not alone in this despair. Too often, in the face of such chaos, we throw up our hands and say, "Yep, the world's a crazy place but there's nothing I can do about it," and then load up another episode of Game of Thrones to distract or numb ourselves from the fires that are literally burning outside our door.

But then I thought that there IS something we can do that really does make a difference. We have the power to cultivate and practice compassion. For me, compassion is the answer.

Critics will say that there's not enough compassion-Kumbya in the universe to help those people whose world is now buried under rubble or water. And I stand boldly in defiance of such hopelessness and send out this call to action, to myself and to you, with 2 ways we can put compassion into practice:

Meditation and donation.

Join me for a 30-minute group compassion meditation and help the world fundraiser.

This Sunday, September 10th at 9 am Mountain Time and 11 am Eastern Time!

Yes, I still live in New York and you can do this meditation with us whether you're in NYC, The Wasatch Front, or anywhere else in the world.

Here's how this is going to work. . .

We will be meditating simultaneously in the comfort of our own homes while connected online via an internet meeting place called Zoom. It is essentially a virtual classroom. You'll need a computer or smartphone with speakers and a camera. You'll also need a link to join our session.

Here's how you get the link. I'm asking everyone to please make a donation with the button above. I will collect the donations and turn around and divide them equally between two really solid charities which I trust and have personally vetted, Direct Relief International and Plant It Forward Farms. You choose the amount of your donation but please be as generous as you can. In addition to our heart-felt global compassion, these people also need to eat and rebuild their lives.

Once I receive your donation, I'll send you an email with the link and simple instructions to join our meditation group.

If you can't spare any money right now, or want to donate to a different charity, but still want to participate in the meditation, simply email me and I'll send you the link. It's about coming together, not the money. It's our collective compassion that will catalyze the healing for the world and the people in it.

Also, if you feel inspired to join us in spirit but aren't interested in joining us online,  please simply meditate on your own at the same time,  Sun. Sept. 10 from 9:00-9:30 am MDT or 11-11:30 am EDT .

It's not perfect, it won't solve the world's problems over night, but I know it will be one very powerful way to help heal this world and help heal our hearts in the meantime. We all need to come together. We need you so please join us!
